This morning I worked from home, and much to my surprise I was up and dressed and logged in about 15 minutes before I normally get to work. I had a daunting task, there is an online training course which I have tried to take twice before, which I had given up on when, after an hour, there was still nothing in it which applied to my job. It's a long boring story, but the bottom line is access to a particular system I need at work is only granted to those who pass the class.
We were told it would take less than an hour, but for me it was 2:15.
And then it was time for a break, and some cats. And then lunch at a nearby Greek place which had leg of lamb on special, but it looked like pot roast and tasted bitter. I don't know what they cooked it in, but I took most of it to go, and it is now residing in my fridge waiting to be boiled and repurposed into something curried. Maybe Penang curry, but more likely green.
To work, boss confirmed I had dodged the bullet which was the holiday lunch party in the break room. :-)
One of my cow-orkers said I missed the swag they handed out - a company-branded USB drive. Don't need or want one, it is another testimony to how little they think of their employees.
There was also an announcement that corporate is no longer giving us free bus and train passes. I live too close to commute, so it's not a big deal for me, but for those who do it means $1600/yr. For me it was nice to be able to take CalTrain into the city or light rail to San Jose and stay out of traffic from time to time. I'll just use my Clipper card, I guess.
Spent a lot of time syncing my email, which was zapped when they re-imaged my machine last week. Also looked for tests to run, but most of them have been run already.
Lucky's after work for limes, also picked up some egg nog and they had lactose-free whipped cream which I thought Domino would like. She didn't. They have stopped carrying most of the flavors of Crystal Lite, except Lemonade and the repulsive peach combinations.
For dinner I made roti, and Penang curry & coconut milk dip. Yummy. Finally finished the chocolate chip mint ice cream which had been taking up too much space in the freezer.
Pandora sent me a note that they have added more tunes to one of my themes. I have note used it in ages. Tried it again, and the tunes they added were not the right genre or sound, and the ads are now screaming, so I closed the browser. It is not worth it to me to pay them for the premier service. Tried that for a year, meh.
The cat formerly known as Milo has been trying to get Domino to play with him, she spits and snarls instead. I hope she comes around soon.
I am still not coming up with a Thai name for him.
Plans for tomorrow:
