1. Attend the monthly free Los Altos Ye Olde Towne Band concert. (This is the first time in 5 years I have not been in the band)
2. Meet Janice for coffee
3. Water the gardens
And now as I am writing this:
Extra Credit: Check the contents of the MP3 player to see why, after all the work I did in renaming the folders and editing the MP3 tags, the car was not showing me more than a small percent of what I'd uploaded.
The concert was interesting. My plan was to sit in the shade in my camp chair with a sandwich, cookies and ice water, and read from the Kindle app till the music started. When the concert starts, the only shade is where the band is sitting, and a small fringe of the lawn in front of them, and the edges of the trail, which is mostly occupied picnic tables, and 100 yards from the band parallel to the playground.
I parked on the fringe just past a birthday party, and that was fine until a a few minutes into the concert when a couple pulled in behind me, and were joined by another couple, who were very chatty. Just before halftime the shade had shifted, and I was able to move out onto the lawn directly in front of the band, about 100 feet away.
From that distance, the woodwinds were not audible. And the conductor's hard work in getting the band to attend to dynamics was a FAIL because outdoors nobody can hear anything below mf. Also from that position, there was a lot of traffic in front of me. Once in a while it was eye candy, but mostly it was children running and adults blocking my view. But for the most part it was enjoyable, and after the show I went up and said hi to the conductor & some friends. All of my section, though, bailed before I got to them.
Got to Starbucks just less than an hour early, there were plenty of places to sit, odd for a Sunday. As usual, Kanef and a friend came in at about 4:30, and sat at the next table. I could have eavesdropped, but was more interested in the book I was reading. Janice is back on the dating sites after a year of abstaining, and immediately found someone in a meetup group to connect with. I just hope he doesn't drink.
I pulled out my old joke that it's been so long since I've had a date, I forget who gets tied up.
Update on MP3 player. It looks like I made the mistake of having Media Monkey load the files to the player. It renamed all the folders back to the wrong format. 45 albums named "Various Artists" and another dozen named "Unknown Artist". The car wants the folder name to be the album name. So I nuked the files on the player and am using file manager to upload them again. And this is just my musicals. I still need to rip classicals and my favorite pop CDs.
Plans for tomorrow:
The usual work search, plus ping the contract rep about the Amazon job
