I Hate When That Happens

The machine I was supposed to test is still in transit, so I decided to take advantage of the free time this afternoon by re-imaging my server, on which IT had put a later version of Ubuntu than much of our software supports. I went online, downloaded the right version (took half an hour), burned it to a CD (20 minutes) and installed it (another half hour) fired it up and discovered I needed the desktop version, not the server version.

So: Lather, rinse, repeat with the desktop version, which is now installing on the machine to my left. It'll take the rest of the day to get our various software bits installed and configured. Interesting thing about the desktop version is you can pop the CD into any intel PC and boot up a working OS without actually installing it onto the hard drive.
