Tuned the Sonos speaker system (there's a speaker in the bedroom, bathroom, office, kitchen) to KCEA, which is normally the 40's station, but The First Noël was playing (Sinatra) so I quickly switched to the Jimmy Buffet channel on Pandora. And was treated to three different versions of It's 5 o'clock Somewhere. One of them was an Alan Jackson concert which Jimmy Buffet was not at, one was an Alan Jackson concert which Jimmy Buffet was at and the third was a Jimmy Buffet concert with one of the band members singing the Alan Jackson part.
It's a cute song. If I was a drinker I'd like it more, probably. Anther song which was played more than once is I Love This Bar. Toby Keith.
We got winners, we got losers,
Chain smokers and boozers.
An' we got yuppies, we got bikers,
An' we got thirsty hitchhikers.
And the girls next door dress up like movie stars.
Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, I love this bar.
We got cowboys, we got truckers,
Broken hearted fools and suckers.
An' we got hustlers, we got fighters,
Early birds and all nighters.
And the veterans talk about their battle scars:
Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, I love this bar.
Speaking of battle scars, I visited a few times throughout the day the charity stream for Wounded Warriors, which eventually raised > $6k ($5k target). Vegas_penguin shaved his beard and head for a donation. Several of the 10 men and the one woman jumped through a hole in the ice for donations.
Her handle is Buck.
Unhooked the Netgear 8TB (7TB after formatting) external backup drive and replaced it with the WD 10TB (9TB) drive. USB 3 instead of gigabit network connection. Ran the Acronis backup of my big drive E, started at 6:45 AM ended at 2:45 PM. The network drive would have taken until about 3 am tomorrow. Also ran the small C drive backup, it took less than an hour, I think. Not much different from Network.
Watched the Raiders then the 49ers blow comfortable leads to lose their home games. And Buffalo beat Pittsburgh, resisting the last minute temptation to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.
And here comes another cute country song. I Ain't As Good As I Once Was (but I'm as good once as I ever was). Toby Keith again.
No breakfast, late lunch of tetrazzini, heated up in the Panasonic microwave delivered this morning.
Spent some quality time on the stepladder changing where the carport camera was mounted. I tried a spot above and to the right of the door, but the mount wouldn't let me point it away from the neighbors, so now it is on one of the carport columns, pointed across the driveway at the door. One column toward the street from where it had been. Part of the drill was charging the cameras. The front door cam went back where it was after charging.
But while it was charging a whole family came to the front door claiming they had an appointment with Realtor to see the house at 1:30 (it was now 2:30). I tried to put them off till Realtor could show them the place but they were politely insistent, said they were paying cash, tried to bargain (I said no, the price is already $10k less than any other 3 BR houses in the park). The gang was the man who was buying the house, a relative who is a contractor who will make some major renovations, a wife and a daughter. They are related to the people in #19 across the street. A big selling point is the Hindu temple down the block. Nice thing about Hindus is they don't get distracted by that Jesus holiday. If they do buy the place, they want me out ASAP. Fine with me, as soon as I have the $$ I can be gone in a week. I think. Anyhow, I told them go ahead and look around.
One gotcha is there are no homes for sale in Tropicana Palms. But there are three at Borega, the 1111 address.
But we'll have to see what happens. I texted Realtor and asked if anyone had contacted her about a showing, she replied that she was at the hospital today helping her nephew get born, and she had told the person who saw the house Wednesday she wasn't available today. Looking at the front door cam from Wednesday, the two men were the same ones.
The last of the Bon Chon wings with corn & green beans was dinner. Egg cream for dessert. Had to warm up the Hershey's syrup under the tap. Too tall for the microwave.
Watched Svengoolie, the movie was The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll. 1960 color gem with Paul Massie in the title roles, Dawn Addams as his very redheaded wife Kitty, Christopher Lee as the gambler having an affair with Kitty. They made a very effective change between J and H simply by giving the doctor a beard and bushy eyebrows which magically disappeared to create Hyde. Lots of beautiful costumes, and lots of costumes totally wrong for the period. Set dressing in the doc's lab was superb.
Took out the garbage, including an extra bag with Styrofoam blocks found in a closet, parked there and forgotten a long time ago, plus the blocks from the microwave package.
Plans for tomorrow:
Bring in the garbage bins
Maybe stream the house work across the street
Groc shopping - use the EBT card
Change the litterbox cartridge (it really needed that today but no room in the garbage bin)
Figure out what to do with the Netgear drive
Call the other contractors if I don't get an email reply
If Realtor has good news, call Tropicana Palms and ask if anything's coming up (Trulia says no)
