Gripe de Jour - Prescription Drug Ads

Not the ads themselves - it's actually fairly educational, I think, to hear about all the new cures (and sometimes new diseases) available from our mercenary pharmaceutical companies. What bugs me is the lawyer-inspired list of possible side effects. I get sick just hearing them. And I don't think it's truth in advertising because these drugs require a prescription, which means you need to talk to your doctor about them, and she is going to tell you the possible side effects (and hopefully tailor that to your specific case) in the privacy of her office, where I'm not going to puke on my carpet when I hear them. Most pharmacies will also do this during a first-time prescription consult.

So save a few bucks, Pfizer, Glaxo, Roche, Proctor & Gamble, Eli Lilly, Amgen, Merck, Abbott, Bayer, Bristol-Meyers, Squib, Novartis and any other advertisers of drugs on TV and skip the warnings. Just tell us the name of the drug, who makes it, and what it's supposed to treat, and make your tag line "May cause severe death - ask your doctor for our disgusting list of possible side effects."
